Edsville was one of the first short theatrical comedies to earn direct box office revenue in Canada with some ten thousand movie goers having bought tickets to see it. In its CBC primetime premiere, it earned a viewership of 1.02 million Canadians. It has taken more than 30 years for the right Canadian-owned venue to appear to sell Edsville.
