The Coop’s position on taxation:
The Coop is not currently registered for GST, and therefore no GST will be charged on commissions and fees charged by The Coop for the conveyance of sales of a creators’ intangible property at this time. When the The Coop is either required, or voluntarily chooses to register for GST, the tax in the amount of 5% will be added to our fees and commissions.
Authors, artists and creators, by providing their works to be sold on The Coop’s website, are agreeing to comply with all local, regional, and federal income tax and excise tax guidelines. Enter your product prices before tax.
The website automatically calculates and adds applicable GST/HST/PST at checkout based on the customer’s location.
What you need to do

Enter your regular selling price.

Do not add GST/HST/PST to the price yourself.

Do not include tax in the listed price.
If you are registered to collect GST/HST/PST

Tax collected on your sales will be included in your payout.

You are responsible for reporting and remitting taxes to the CRA.
If you are not registered to collect GST/HST/PST

Simply set your selling price at the amount you want to receive.

The website will handle tax calculations for customers.
Commission
Co-op commissions are calculated on the product price before tax.
