Canadian Print-On-Demand Services

The big American Corporations provide self publishing and POD services that will print between one and 999 copies of an original painting, photograph or book on paper or canvas. Given reasonable volumes Canadian printers can do the same. 

Our enquiries indicate that local printing companies are very interested in supplying this service to GCCC members but they are, understandably, unwilling to commit to prices, timelines, stocking the paper, ink etc. needed for a large variety of requests without an indication that your cooperative will be able to deliver the volume of work needed to make their involvement pay. So, we need to show them that Canadian authors, artists, photographers and others want this service and are willing to commit to it. 

It is likely that we will need to have at least 250 co-op members with an average of at least two products each on board to show printers that we will have the work they need. 

Its time to say Canadians don’t need the big US firms. We can do this without them – by working together and supporting each other. Cooperation is the key. So:

• If you have printed copies of your book on hand or an E-Pub file you can list them for sale on this Coop Website now.

• If you have items that need to be printed and delivered by a POD service. Choose the category “Print-Ready Books (not yet available)” Up load the product information but not the PDF. This will provide what we need but not display your creation as an item for sale until we have an affordable, committed printer who can handle delivery and we get the pdf and other details from you. No one will take your posting information about your creation as a commitment, just an indication of support and a willingness to use the service if it compares favourably once it is available.
