Prior to DREAMERS and SERENDIPITIES A Memoir, 2026 , Dr. Medina’s previous books were published by well-established firms like Rex Publishing, Unlimited Books, and National Bookstore (Philippines). His textbooks were adapted by universities and colleges throughout the country. The mini-business cases he wrote were used in some universities not only in the Philippines but up to the US. His book “Principles and Practices in Insurance” is in the files of the US Library of Congress.
His memoir can help inspire and encourage our youth to pursue higher education (post-secondary) as a pathway to a better life. His story (similar in many ways–but certainly in a higher level–to that of his former student Vir Alvaran) is a must-read for students who may think they don’t have what it takes to get the higher education they need. Dr. Medina’s memoir chronicles a “Mission Impossible: Accomplished.”
The Pontifical University of Santo Tomas (founded in 1611) awarded him in 1981 the post-graduate degree Doctor of Philosophy in Commerce. Nobody would have imagined that as possible when he was growing up in a remote farming village and had to work in the rice fields for a time, walking several kilometers from home before reaching the road with public transportation to take to/from school.
CloserToLean is very pleased to make this volume available to our Canadian youth, many of them from immigrant families who came here in search of better opportunities that is possible with good education.
