Outside the anterior of the galactic core, inhabited star systems have become prime hunting grounds for machine ships, feeding off the gas giants, decimating populations, leaving fear in the minds of everyone.

Unconcerned about other than personal details, sentient beings walked, crawled, swam, or flew through local flora and fauna on many planets, in a myriad of star systems dotting the galactic cluster.

A select number helped on occasion, watched, and waited, but of them all there were too few, too far apart and too busy, choosing not to know or care about what happened “out there”.

Delan Gowrie is posted as General Consul, to solve another dispute.  Lilis Conig is undercover, hunting the clandestine movements of a gang of thieves.
